Example of a Professional Organization/Association

My career field is English, and more specifically, the teaching of English. As such, I am a member of the NCTE, or the National Council of Teachers of English. I pay a small yearly fee as my "dues," and in return, I get a quarterly publication about research/advancements in the teaching of English and I attend a yearly educational conference to both hear presentations and network.
